About the Forum

Acoustic Soundboard is a free, independent forum / messageboard for the discussion of acoustic guitars, other acoustic instruments, associated equipment, playing music, listening to music and a whole lot more!

The community has been in existence since 2007, and the forum was previously hosted by ACOUSTIC magazine, under the name Acousticlife.

This forum was set-up at the beginning of October 2010 when we were having lots of access problems at Acousticlife.
The forum software there was very buggy, people struggled to register and access the forum and we were afraid that we would all lose touch with each other if it disappeared. This then became the back-up, so that in times where we couldn't access the main forum, we could still remain in touch with each other and post.

It became useful when Acousticlife changed software and a lot of posts, uploads and information was lost.
Following the problems caused by ACOUSTIC changing publisher from OysterHouse to Blaze (access/bookmark/login issues) this forum received lots more use.

In November 2012 as we were getting more serious about using this forum, we held a mini competition to rename it from Acousticlife Backup to something of our own identity.
Forum member andrewjw came up with the most popular suggestion, and so Acoustic Soundboard was born.

In February 2013, Acousticlife suddenly stopped working altogether and after several attempts at contacting ACOUSTIC staff, including the then editor Guy Little, we received a short note and later a letter from Guy in which he explained that they had a brand new enhanced website not tied to the previous server which hosted the forum.
He says that a decision was made not to continue with the Forum, which had been been closed without any notice to any members.

As such we had no opportunity to warn anyone, to transfer data/content we had built up, or to obtain further contact details for fellow members, and as a result many members were lost or took a long time finding their way to the new forum.

Acoustic Soundboard has slowly but steadily built up an excellent member base, and is now striving to include interesting content, stimulating discussion and most importantly, provide a fun place for like-minded people to visit, interact, learn and be entertained.

What's on your mind?
walkingdecay: There was an official answer on the Beast and the village from a Disney board I used to troll with these questions (village disappears then reappears when the spell is due to be broken) but I find yours far more plausible. Feb 18, 2019 8:46:08 GMT
robmc: Yeah, that does seem a bit far-fetched, bless them. Feb 18, 2019 12:11:58 GMT
walkingdecay: My wife's away for five days and I'm so depressed by the news and modern TV (Netflix: All your favourite serial killers and ultra violent superheroes in one place) that I'm going to retreat from the lot for a bit. Look out sand, here comes my head. Feb 22, 2019 8:53:50 GMT
scorpiodog: Maybe you need a holiday, Pete. May I suggest a relaxing trip to Vienna? That's in Osterreich, by the way. Feb 22, 2019 10:36:09 GMT
walkingdecay: That actually sounds perfect, Paul, but I can't go anywhere for more than a few hours these days. I have a dog who exhibits the worst separation anxiety I've ever seen, and taking the usual steps to cure it makes her worse. Still, she's clever and loving. Mar 3, 2019 8:07:35 GMT *
walkingdecay: Took a holiday from the 21st century anyway: minimal internet, old telly and old music. Meanwhile my wife spent one of the most bizarre times of her life. Nuts In May couldn't compete with what she went through. Mar 3, 2019 8:15:04 GMT
scorpiodog: Sounds great, Pete. If we could only turn back the clock on our physical age as easily! Mike Leigh - genius. I haven't seen Nuts In May since it was originally shown but I do remember it well. Mar 4, 2019 12:58:22 GMT
jangarrack: I finally traced the annoying intermittent buzz or rattle that suddenly developed on my Camps guitar....it was a button on my partly rolled up shirt sleeve. Fortunately, my feeling of relief trumps my feeling of foolishness. :phew: Mar 4, 2019 21:02:39 GMT
ocarolan: That mirrors almost exactly my experience of the most annoying buzz I ever had to track down! Mine was a button on the shirt front. T-shirts rule.... Mar 4, 2019 21:55:52 GMT *
martinrowe: You would think they would make musical instruments that could cater for these types of situations :) Mar 5, 2019 2:28:24 GMT
walkingdecay: I knew a drummer who swore there was an annoying rattle coming from his snare. And he knew this how? Mar 5, 2019 8:35:27 GMT
walkingdecay: Alexa play music by Kamasi Washington. "I can't find songs by Caravan-site Washington." Mar 5, 2019 8:41:47 GMT
Akquarius: that's one of several reasons why Alexa has a house ban here :-) Mar 6, 2019 6:51:14 GMT
curmudgeon: Veni, Vidi velcro - I came, I saw, I stuck around. Mar 6, 2019 9:13:43 GMT
walkingdecay: Astronauts have velcro on their flyholes, which not only prevents entrapment in zips, but in the ISS prevents static jolts to the genitals. I suppose that whether you approve of the latter effect or not depends on how old you are. Mar 7, 2019 9:51:24 GMT
walkingdecay: I see there's actually been a spike in Michael Jackson's record sales this week. Time for Harris to re-release Two Little Boys, clearly. Mar 9, 2019 9:53:29 GMT *
hattwat: Check out my latest message on here. Yes, I'm still alive - just! Mar 11, 2019 1:11:48 GMT
ocarolan: Very pleased to hear it Phil! Mar 11, 2019 10:01:20 GMT
walkingdecay: Bloodnok: What is your name? Seagoon: Don't tell him Henry. Mar 16, 2019 2:16:19 GMT
walkingdecay: Spike anticipating Pike. Mar 16, 2019 2:19:30 GMT
