Two very different players but with a shared gift of making guitars truly sing. Wonderful.

Nice one. If anyone's interested, this is a really good tutorial from Derek Gripper, he has a lot of tabs on his site. African music for the guitar, tuned in a lute tuning, a sort of hybrid open/dropped D tuning (dropped D and G string down to F sharp and Capo 3) if I remember correctly.
There's a second one as well. I learnt it last year but haven't kept up with it. I found it hypnotic, different, and a nice change.

Watched this yesterday. An Almost perfect way to spend an hour and a bit. Had never heard Gripper’s Malian music before. Stunning.

Many thanks for that Brian. It's really refreshing to appreciate a music, and a musician, that isn't surrounded by hype. This music gets past my tired ears and 'gets' to me. I think it's the combination of melody and rhythm but best not get too analytical. thanks again Martin
