Oooh, scratch your eyes out! Lots of bitchiness here - what for? Yes, that struck me as very odd too... Stefan is a renowned builder on an international level... strange to see such negativity

I think you "bitchiness" guys are taking it all too seriously. This forum is full of throw away, "comical" remarks about all sorts of stuff. It's not disrespectful, it's very much part of the British psyche, to take the pee and jibe at folk. I should imagine 99% of folk on this forum know Sobell guitars are some of the best in the world. Here we tend more toward mirth than reverence.
No bad thing, in my book.

Lots of bitchiness? If anything there was only one bitchy comment... And that was by me. If Stefan and Mark (or Sobell and Knopfler) have earned the right to do what they want then I have earned the right to be bitchy due to my venerable age and righteous living Of course, it wasn't *meant* in that way but, hey ho....

...which is all very interesting as Stefan is of German descent, as was CF Martin. Jonny .... and, probably, Mark Knopfler, too :-D As I take it, his name is a bit unusual for an englishman. Whereas the name Knopfler is quite common in the southwest part of Germany, meaning nothing else but "buttonmaker". Not that this is of any meaning, of course.

Thought I'd get my tuppence hapenny in... The guitar in question was one that required respraying and was available, along with another MS model (Malaysian B'wood), last year. I'd paid my deposit and was next in line after Knopfler. However, my circumstances changed and I decided - reluctantly - that I couldn't afford one of Stefan's instruments. In my dealing with Stefan he was never anything other than scrupulously fair and a thorough gentleman. It goes without saying that the guitars were wonderful. Incidentally, I recalled him telling me he was of Polish descent...
