1970s band from Kilmarnock: Buster Hymen and the Penetrations. That’s Ayrshire for ye. Just ask Cams. Speechless. Next you will Tell me they were a country gospel group ;-) ...... check out Shakespere's allusion to "....country matters..." and what he meant by the phrase! (Hamlet 3, ii). Master of a good mucky pun and and joke was old Bill. Keith

I played in a bluegrass band called "The Druthers Brothers" which I thought was great as I was short and stout, the banjo player was long and thin, one of us was a woman (!) and a person of colour. (Mandolin players varied) I used to say we were identical quins - got a nervous laugh.
Way back in the days when we all had hair and bell bottoms, I was in a band called "a Boy And His Dog".

I remember a Robert Elms show on Radio London where he was talking about musician stage names and he said over the years there have been quite a few artists called Nosmo King.
When you think about the name, you can see how spur of the moment inspiration may have struck many a musician within a club, looking at a notice on the wall... It does sound like the sort of name an american R'n'B singer would have.

The name Nosmo King goes back a bit - I don't think he'd get many gigs nowadays:

Just remembered another one - I used to go to a bluegrass "summer school" where we "studied" with some very fine amer9can musicians.
It was also encouraed that we form scratch bands for a student's evening show - which I loved.
One year, can't remember which, I teamed up with a German lady who was a great singer, (and not unpleasant to look upon) and we formed a fice or six piece.
This was when the Dixie Chicks were riding high in popularity.
Me, being a bitofalad and with a tendency to such things spoonerised Dixie Chicks and came up with The "Shikse Dicks" ..... which was nice!
