What's on your mind?
scorpiodog: Hammer and duck tape, Pete. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duck tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use the hammer. The WD40 is a bit too refined for me. But never mistake WD40 for red, red wine! Apr 20, 2018 9:20:08 GMT
walkingdecay: Wise words indeed, Paul. But what is this "wine" you speak of? Perhaps something to offer barely-weened sucklings before they are ready for beer? Apr 20, 2018 10:29:49 GMT
scorpiodog: Yes, I've always preferred beer. But AFAIK, WD40 didn't record "Red, red beer". Could be an opportunity for you, Pete. Apr 20, 2018 12:17:16 GMT
walkingdecay: Hah! And don't encourage me - I happen to have a loop from Red Red Wine which I used to improvise over. Apr 20, 2018 15:22:21 GMT
walkingdecay: Good solid picks for next to nowt, believe it or not: Apr 27, 2018 8:13:12 GMT *

walkingdecay: Great value bundle of 19 "For Dummies..." music related ebooks/pdfs for charity. All sorts, including theory, guitar and key instruction, home recording and uke exercises. Don't let the "Dummies" tag fool you: careers have been built on the series. May 4, 2018 7:56:29 GMT

walkingdecay: These announcements have been brought to you by a cheapskate for the benefit of other cheapskates and should not be interpreted as advertising material. May 4, 2018 8:03:16 GMT
walkingdecay: The Humble offer has now timed out. May 8, 2018 8:03:05 GMT
walkingdecay: I can recommend Harmonica For Dummies. I've made more progress in three hours than I have in years on that instrument. Not just, "I've played through three instruction books and this is the one where it all clicked" progress either. May 10, 2018 14:26:06 GMT
Martin: I'm sad I missed that deal! May 10, 2018 18:28:46 GMT
walkingdecay: It was popular so chances are it will get a reprise, Martin. I'll let you know if I spot it in their mailings again. May 11, 2018 7:22:17 GMT
007: There you go Harmonica for Dummies www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=22524893851&searchurl=tn%3Dharmonica%2Bfor%2Bdummies%26sortby%3D17&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-title1 May 12, 2018 16:49:19 GMT
ianh: I guess other people have seen this source of good value picks, but in case you didn't know it already: www.guitarplectrums.co.uk May 17, 2018 16:27:47 GMT
walkingdecay: Thanks Ian. I've been meaning to experiment with more rounded picks for mandolin and some on there look good. May 21, 2018 13:58:57 GMT
ianh: Hi walkingdecay. I've just bought a few more picks for mandolin. I really like the sound of the 'tortex' ones - very bright and crisp. I've got some of the triangular ones on order, plus the new prime tone, and the ultra triangles -all mandolin possibles May 21, 2018 15:23:38 GMT
walkingdecay: Thanks again Ian. I'll give the Tortex ones a go. May 22, 2018 14:44:44 GMT
ocarolan: Used Tortex triangles and Ultex triangles on guitar/mandolin for years now - like them lots - 3 picks for the price of one - large enough to grip amd not drop - possible to flex them slightly between thumb and two finger to make them feel stiffer - ooer! May 22, 2018 23:23:15 GMT
ianh: that's a good recommendation on the Tortex and Ultex. I'm thinking of writing a short post on the forum on different picks for mandolin - when I get round to it! May 23, 2018 10:48:03 GMT
