Hey, Just wanted to give a little shout out to wolframslides for some excellent customer service. I order a Precision Crystal 2 file from them last week and one arrived - immediately I filed my nails with it and was impressed by how much better it was than any other nail file and also by the smooth finish it left on my nail - I then played guitar and was convinced I was getting a better tone, particularly from the ring finger which seemed less 'twangy' than it had been before. I then noticed that my file had a very minor imperfection, a small chip near the handle end of the file - it didn't affect the ability to use the file but I thought it was worth flagging it up in case it might cause some structural issues. David immediately emailed me back apologising and got another file out in the post and included a return address sheet and stamp for me to return the other file - the new file arrived today and it's perfect (I think I'm slightly addicted to filing my nails now though!) and everything's all good. A really good product and great service from Wolfram!

I use them as well. My main slide is a steel Martin Simpson Wolfram plus I have a tonebar for my Weissenborn as well. Always great customer service.

They're great and seem to last forever ... unless you drop them on a hard floor and they can break which two of mine have. I've been trying to replace for over a year but whenever I go on their website it says they're out of stock. Where's the best place to purchase? FFJ

I have been meaning to get one of these for ages to replace my old glass nail file, but wasn't sure which one to get, Crystal² or Crystal² Pro.
The Crystal² Pro is a bit thicker and has coarse and fine surfaces so I'm guessing that the standard Crystal² has 2 fine surfaces. Is that right?

I'm not sure of the answer to this, but as a user for 10 years or so I VERY rarely use the rougher side. I prefer to use the fine side more regularly for both hands (i.e. every other day) and don't need the rougher side as my nails never get long enough to need it. And its never worn out. FFJ

Just a wee follow up on this. I ordered the precision crystal 'nano', this being a small size version. It arrived today (only ordered yesterday! It comes with a small 'hard cover' case which is ideal. Also inside is a booklet with suggestions for how to get best results plus some tips by Tony McManus about what he prefers. In relation to the question about the 'rough' and 'smoother' sides of the file, interestingly Tony says he gets the final shape with the smoother side of the file but finally goes back to the coarser side to 'get a little 'grit' on the surface which actually makes contact with the strings. he says of course it is a matter of preference. There's a lot about angle of fingers when plucking the strings. I think its a bit too specific for me with my standard of playing (hitting the right strings in the right order in the right fretting position is enough challenge for me I reckon), but it's all interesting if you want to go to this detail.
The file is, like my earlier one, great!
Regards
John

They are good but I lost one, Keith gave me his (as he didn’t use it) and the new one eventually broke. Now back to being old skool.
