Please have a listen to this beautiful song by a pal of mine, Martin Boland:
Martin is a stalwart of the Edinburgh folk scene and a brilliant bloke. He writes some lovely songs.

Lovely song. I liked his voice, and enjoyed the video too. Thanks - I will tell Martin next time I see him. The vid was made by a talented local guy who does videos for a lot of local musicians. They did this for Martin last year for his 50th birthday I think. The pub is The Royal Oak, probably Edinburgh's most famous folk music bar. Martin can be found playing there several times a week.

Another of Martin's songs, filmed in The Oak and written about some of his musical compadres:

I think I liked that one even more, he is very charismatic. Watching that made me want to know his whole life story.

He is a lovely, kind man Wild Violet and I'm proud to know him and have him as a friend. If you are ever in Edinburgh he will make you feel most welcome in The Royal Oak :-) And I know that it means the world to the guys mentioned in that song that Martin wrote those words for them.

If I'm ever in the area I'd love to meet him. I'll make sure to stop by the Royal Oak.

I know some people liked Martin Boland's song The Golden Boy, so thought you might be interested in a film of Martin and Eddy Hanson (collectively known as Futtocks) performing the song live at their afternoon session on Sunday. Billy Craig on double bass. www.facebook.com/pages/Futtocks/392684454109505

Sad to report that my pal Martin passed away in July. His passing leaves a massive hole in the Edinburgh folk scene. His funeral and wake had the biggest turnout of any that I've ever attended.
