Following on from walkingdecay's 'recommended reading' thread, I'd like to start a recommended DVD thread. I find I get a lot of my teaching from videos, some Youtube based, and some more professional. One of the better teaching DVDs that I've found, certainly for me learning fingerstyle guitar is this one : Acoustic FingerstylesWhich ones would you recommend and why?

Good move, Martin. I only have two instructional DVDs, but they're doozies: Homespun's two Bill Monroe DVDs, The Mandolin Of Bill Monroe, Volumes One and Two.
On the first John Hartford interviews Bill while he demonstrates some of his techniques, backed by the Bluegrass Boys, while on the second Sam Bush teaches tunes and techniques in detail.
I felt a bit guilty watching it though, as Monroe himself once told me not to copy him during one of my expeditions to worship him backstage. He said the music would keep going as long as people tried to do something of their own.

I really like "Orrin Star's Flatpicking Primer: What the Tab Won't Tell You (2010)" and any of Steve Kaufman's flatpicking DVDs. I'm no pro yet, but these are pretty easy to follow. Both guys are good teachers and explain the process very well.
