And here's Louisiana Red. If the poor man hadn't suffered enough in his early life, he had to try to teach the likes of me to play slide guitar well into his seventies: What a sad story that was. A true bluesman, great post. Thanks.

Thought this might introduce a few people to Tom Portman, a slide (and fingerstyle) player from Ireland. Tom's website is tomportmanmusic.com/ it's well worth a visit.

No mention so far of Sam Mitchell...great player. Astonishing player. Born to it as his dad played Hawaiian guitar with Felix Mendelssohn's Hawaiian Serenaders in the 40's. Did a collaberation with another excellent slide player from Serbia, Homesock Mac, now living in Sweden. Must find some of his playing as well. Here we go. Lovely tone on this one.

And Sylvester W was the first person to record slide guitar commercially. Much under-rated in IMO. Thanks fro posting.

Just bought this CD. Mississippi Fred McDowell and the Hunters Chapel Singers. Some great gospel singing and Fred`s superb playing.
