Hi everyone, My name is Harlee, 23 and currently living in Brighton.

I started playing music when i was 7 years old, violently banging away on tables, tapping on anything that made a noise and singing all the time. My parents thought it was a good idea to get me a drum kit so i could relieve some of this energy. Music became one of the only ways i felt comfortable expressing myself growing up, so to have something i cared about giving me that
I played drums for the next four years, and picked up the guitar after hearing melodic ideas in my head, rarther than percussive noises. As i grew up, i would go through all my dads record collection, listening to the greats like Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton. This is where my love of blues started, and i soon craved a proper electric guitar. Blues really sturred something inside me, and playing the blues became my thing up until the age of 16.
I studied Music at college after that, and really broadened the style i was playing, metal, heavy rock, instead of the blues. After finishing college, I moved to Brighton to study Guitar at Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
In one of the first lessons i had with my guitar tutor, He showed me a video of a song called Aerial Boundaries by Michael Hedges. Through him i was introduced to many incredible acoustic guitarists, like Andy Mckee, Antione Dufour, Don Ross and Tommy Emmanuel. I realised that the music ideas in my head weren't limited to melody or rhythm anymore, and i could put them all together on one instrument. I went home and never played the electric again.
In the years since i began primarily playing acoustic guitar, I started playing open mic nights around london, but found it very hard to find good venues for acoustic acts, and gigs worth playing in general. I decided to move back to Brighton and follow my dream of becoming a professional musician. The music scene in Brighton is booming, and being such a small town, live music events attract big crowds. I started to call on the people i had met in university to start getting gigs, good musicians i had become good friends with, and started to put on my own acoustic nights.
Over the past few months i have been running several successful nights around Brighton, and have been trying to gather a collective of very talented instrumental acoustic players together to all perform on one night. I have seen the benefits of getting into music promotion, and the people i have met have been the most important aspect of my career.
I couldnt think of anything else i would rather me doing in my life, I grew up with music as my only vice, and am passionate about being a professional musician and I believe that Samhradh would enable me to truly achieve that by having a beautiful guitar beneath my fingers
Thank you for reading if you got this far, Good luck to the other entrants
All the best
Harlee
