I was wondering if anyone had any appetite for a new forum project, this time under a broad heading that might attract more contributors, rather than dedication to a specific artist or tune. Two possible headings that occur to me are "The Blues Project," or, drawing inspiration from bellyshere's excellent favourite music thread,"The music and musicians that inspired me." I have to admit I'm making this suggestion for selfish reasons in part, as I still plug in by default each day, and never seem to get back to playing acoustic music.

Yes, I'm in. I need to inject some light touch goals into my playing. Happy with either blues or musicians that inspired me.

Make a song that isn't blues into a blues tune?

A new project sounds like a good idea and long-overdue

Thanks folks. On balance, I think the "...inspired me" idea is probably the better one as a catch all for more contributors. Has anyone else got any other ideas?

I like the "inspired" idea....I'm not sure who inspired me to play acoustic, right enough!

I like the "inspired" idea....I'm not sure who inspired me to play acoustic, right enough! For me it was whoever decided that electric guitars would be more expensive than acoustic. My first was called a Georgian guitar for some reason. I think it was actually a stray from the sporting section as its curve made it more suitable for shooting arrows than making music. I later wrote "Chet Atkins make a me a star" on it in indelible marker, and it was somehow better then.

Sorry, only just spotted this thread, doh. Excellent idea Pete! Broad concept rather than specific song is good, and I too like the "inspired by.." idea.

Looks like "Music and musicians that inspired me" is the one then. I'd better start cutting my shortlist down to an actual shortlist. As it stands there are about thirty artists on it.
If there are any forum members who aren't yet familiar with the concept of the projects, they invite contributions of recordings you make within a single theme. The thread to post them on will be in the special Projects section of the Plucky Duck.
I'll urge forum members of any and all skill levels to have a go at this. It's a chance to pay tribute to the people who inspire you to play and have a bit of fun getting your music out there. If you're worried that your effort may "not be good enough" in any way remember that this isn't one of those nasty, condescending forums, but one of the friendliest places on the internet.

Good stuff walkingdecay ! Pete, how about you start the thread in PD Projects now? Just an announcement of the commencement with a summary of the "rules" as in your post just now would be fine. Keith

A brilliant idea Pete...although we won't be able to contribute anything new for a while...maybe be able to dredge up something that hasn't been posted recently though.

Hello walkingdecay. I'd like to have a go at this, especially after your encouraging words for people who worry about not being 'good enough'. I have someone in mind who has been a great inspiration to me, and would like to attempt one of that person's simpler tunes. Better get started today, as I'm a very slow learner.

Keith Sorry I didn't respond to this yesterday, Keith. I wandered off to do whatever it was I can't remember doing yesterday - probably staring into space and remembering something that happened fifty years ago in the finest of detail. Anyway, the project is up and open to contributions now. The music and musicians that inspired me project

That's great news, Miss C. Honestly, all contributions are very welcome. There's no yardstick of "good enough" - just representation of where your music came from and where it happens to be now.
