ACOUSTIC BLUES TONIGHT - Friday 3rd August
Northwich Folk Club are hosting Adam Karch at the Harlequin Theatre, Queen St, Northwich on Friday 3rd August in a special Blues/Americana night!! Although Adam Karch is from Montreal, his music embodies the spirit of Americana like a scenic ride across the country. He plays a hybrid acoustic blues that consists of precise fingerpicking that recalls players such as Chet Atkins and Kelly Joe Phelps, along with an innovative percussive technique that is thoroughly modern, while somehow primal and anchored in tradition. Check him out on youtube!!
Supporting Adam is Iain Paterson, Iain is a singer and acoustic guitarist from Wirral who brings the blues to life; playing a mixture of traditional blues, roots, and folk songs interspersed with his own compositions.
Tickets £8. Doors open at 8pm for an 8:30pm start.

This Wednesday, 7th November, my good friends The Huers - who some of you will have seen demonstrating Bose PA systems at various guitar shows - are performing at a concert/workshop evening for the Oldham Acoustic Guitar Group at Heyside Cricket Club, Royton OL2 6ND, from 8pm. As well as a concert set, they’ll be talking about instruments, live sound, arranging, harmony singing, and no doubt lots of other interesting stuff.
I’ve been involved in organising this, so I get to play a set too, perhaps with some expert accompaniment from Ian and Phil if I’m lucky!
Admission is only £2 on the door (no advance tickets).
Here are the guys on stage with Boo Hewerdine:

I’m playing tonight as part of an acoustic evening at the Northern Tennis Club on Palatine Road in Didsbury, Manchester. Tickets are £4.
Doors open 7.30, I understand there’s an open mic opportunity at 8.30 then four acts are playing. I’ll be doing a half hour set at around 10.15.
