Can someone recommend me a more neck friendly capo please. The one I've got has a bit of a death grip which is systematically chewing pieces out of my guitar. 😣

Hi, There have been a few threads on this issue. A few options: Planet waves NS, G7 performance 2, or, if budget permits, Elliot Elite is by far the best Elliot. Greg

Another vote for Planet Waves NS and I quite like the Newport G7th too. Both easily adjustable to give just the right amount of pressure.
What are you using at present @stanleyaccrington?

Dunno the make or brand but it's a sprung capo but it has an industrial strength spring on it. OK to put on the neck but slips from my grasp when removing it and sometimes metal comes into contact with neck.

Pretty much anything where the tension is set with a screw rather than a spring should do it. As mentioned the Planet Waves NS & G7 are good (although I'd avoid the NS lite, which is the plastic version, since I managed to destroy one). I currently use an old school Shubb, which doesn't produce excess tension unless you forget to loosen the screw off when moving from a small neck to a bigger one.
Cheap copies of Kyser capos are pretty abundant & the springs on them can be lethal. I have owned a few ebay specials over the years & none of them were especially refined pieces of engineering.

G7th gets my vote every time - very precise, just the right amount of pressure and minimal re-tuning.

Shubb since 1984 and the de luxe is my favourite. Also the G7th Newport is excellent.

Shubb. Simple, reliable, adapts to fit all your guitars and you can get new sleeves when the grip wears out, rather than have to buy a new capo.

Schubb from me to. Although I have just bought a G7 to try out.

I've found the G7 works well - easy one handed operation, minimal tuning problems and less negative effects on tone than most capos I've had.

Tried a few, and I always go back to Shubb. It's not the fastest at removing or putting on but the adjustment means you can get the exact pressure needed quickly with the thumbscrew.

To add to my post a few days ago. Not for the first time I've found Keith to be right! A G7th Newport Capo is very good indeed. Early days yet as it's only arrived today, but I feel it has the edge over the G7th Performance Capo which I like a lot. It's not as big an improvement as the G7th Performance was over the Kyser Quick Change Capo. But I think the Newport lets more presence and richness from the guitar through. Difficult quite to describe why it's so good, but there's definitely an extra something to the sound that makes me enjoy what I'm hearing. Mark

The standard G7 is a fine capo but I am now on my second. Both has simply locked and are now useless. I have a planet Waves which I like (and have lost) so it's back to Shubb!
