Hi All - I Just wondered if anyone has any R J Aylward Made Guitars , I have 2 that he built for me when he was in Bexley, Kent and this was around 16 years ago. He now works in Scotland I am still very much in touch with him a regular basis and send the guitars back for TLC every now and then. I am planning on asking him to build me another guitar very soon , something a bit special (still scheming and planning what I want) His workmanship is fantastic and he really is a great guy, the attention to detail is brilliant and when he was in Kent I watched my guitar being built from a pile of wood in the corner to the finished article and because I was local I would pop in from time to time to see it taking shape.
Cheers Tony

I remember a very favourable review of one of his guitars, an OM ish sort of thingy, in Guitarist mag in the mid 1990s. Other than that I know little or nothing - would love to hear more about your Aylward instruments Tony. Must have been great to keep an eye on your own guitar as it came into being!

I see from his website he's based in a very fine whisky producing area (Aberlour), and also seems to make banjos. I wonder if the two things are related.....

Hi, I own 4 of Rob Aylward's guitars..all of them commissioned by me. His build quality is top drawer, and his guitars are second to none. The last one I had built had 3 piece sides, and a 5 piece back..around parlour size , with cutaway. The woods for back and sides was pink ivory and African Blackwood, and is one of the finest sounding guitars I've ever played. As has already been mentioned he is a top geezer. I can't recommend him highly enough.
