Hi! We are moving from Surrey (near Joe White, Guitar Village and Andertons - among other things) to Bristol in the summer for the next three years, and I was wondering if anyone has any good local knowledge for nice little guitar places I might be able to make the most of for the time we'll be there. I know there's a 'vintage and rare' in Bath, which I'll def check out, but any other knowledge or advice would be good to get going with!
Thanks!
Patrick

I lived in Keynsham before I moved to Australia. Vintage and Rare in Bath is worth a visit. In Bristol, Hobgoblin on Park street used to have a few Fyldes in stock, Johnny Kinkade and the Spanish guitar centre are worth a visit. My favourite haunt Sound Control I believe went out of business.

PMT has a branch in Bristol. If you are into mandolins then Paul Shippey has a workshop not far in Weston Supermare.
Lots of gigs in and around Bristol. The Model Folk and Shelanagig are well worth checking out. The Colston Hall have some terrific big names visit. On a slightly smaller scale there is The Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon, who regularly attract musicians of the calibre of Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr, Altan etc.
Not too far from Bristol (about 30 minutes or so) is the superb Intersound in Dersley, one of my favourite music shops because of the wonderful staff.
It's great up here- you'll have terrific fun,
Robbie
