Well apparently I did get played last Monday 31st July, but I missed it The programme schedule on the website says it starts at 7.30pm so I was tuned in dead on 7.30 and it had already started. The previous two weeks they actually started late due to overrun of the kids bedtime story which is on before - I know. Then after the news at 8pm they said welcome back to the second hour At 8.40pm I got an email from a folk club friend to say they had played me. No problem I thought, I will catch it on the listen again facility. When I looked at that they only do the second hour so I don't know what they played, what they said or anything Ah well there goes my life changing 5 minutes of fame Phil

Well, I managed to get a recording of the show and I am first up so not much editing required. Just stick with it and my bit starts after a couple of minutes or so Oldham Community Radio 'Sounds Of Folk' - 31st July 2017The tuning is in fact DADEAD and the guitar is a Martin 000-18. Phil (PS I have a few CD's left )

Excellent Phil, and I'm sure it was a highlight of the show. It's a really very beautiful track. DADEAD is not one I've tried, and when I saw it I thought - third string to E, that's along way down. But realised it's less of a drop than the bottom string to a C. I must give the tuning a try, assuming my tuning pegs haven't stuck permanently in DADGAD as it's so long since they've been elsewhere. It's an interesting tuning.
Doug Young was doing a lot in DADEAD at one point, and tab/music for several of his tunes is available for download.
'Cat Dance' and 'Laurel Mill' are particularly pleasant.
And from there, it's only a twiddle to go to EADEAE, which covers Ed Gerhard's 'The Handing Down' and some more Doug Young tunes.
I must admit I still find it hard to get my head around these tunings in an intuitive sense, unlike DADGAD which seems to fall naturally under the fingers. That's why Phil has done a great job with his pieces, which sound very relaxed.

Kym Hi Kym A few years ago I learned 'Daisy Goes A Dancing' by Pat Kirtley that was in DADEAD tuning and 'The First Summer' came from that time. I have not used it since. Phil

I like the chap's commentary on DADEAD, 'It's weird that!' particularly with his fantastic accent.
