Hi,
I've never been to this one as it usually clashes with the London Acoustic Show which isn't running this year by the look of it. So I'm planning to pop up the M1 to have a mooch around this year. Has anyone been to it before? And if so what did you think? Or going this year? Entry at a fiver seems reasonable.
I went last year to the Cumbria show at Penrith which was good fun for a few hours.

Hi yep plenty of things to be seen there. Very noisy though which isn't ideal for us acoustic players and a bit more electric guitar focused in general but lots still to see. You can visit the organisers website to see who is exhibiting.

I've not been to the Leeds one yet but the Northern Guitar Shows are generally pretty cool 'tabletop' type shows.
I'm most likely going to be there for D'Addario so make sure you pop by and say hello!

I'll look out for some special deals on EXP 16 and 38s which I use all the time!!

I see you're down on the exhibitors list, (unless they just list people who've been before). If so I'll see you there. We can even practice our Plucky Dip song for Halifax!
Pity these shows are so noisy; that was a big problem at London Acoustic even though it was supposed to be acoustic, many exhibitors had them amped up.

having just "liked" your post John, I ought to clarify that I "liked" the thought of a PD rehearsal happening at the guitar show. Certainly don't like the thought of amped up acoustics - no proper "listening" rooms available I guess?
Anyway - have a great time John and Rosie. Looking forward to meeting up again soon.

I had a stand a few years ago. Very much electric orientated and noisy as Rosie said. Only a few miles from me so I might go. Anyone else thinking of going want to meet up?

I called in to the one last year on my way back from the forum meet. It was really noisy. I bumped into some neighbours which was a surprise but an even bigger surprise was me buying a Schertler amp. So beware there's lots to spend your cash on

Hi,
Just an update for info after my visit yesterday. As a few others had said it was probably 80% electric-orientated with lots of those 'things' on display and a few acoustics thrown in, mainly second hand. The hall they use is just too small for the number of exhibitors and visitors (worse then the Rheged one last year) and you could barely move down the aisles and even less so actually get at any gear easily. They did have an 'acoustic' performer in the other room which might have been good but she turned up late and they moved forward an extremely noisy electric band so I left.
All-in-all it wasn't worth the journey for me; OK for a couple of hours out if you're a) within 10 miles or b) electrified and just want to look, but not otherwise.(Did buy a couple of sets of D'addario EXP acoustic strings though).

Good to meet you fella! Sorry I was really busy and when I turned round you had gone.
First time I had been to that show and it was a pretty good one. You are right, most of the Northern Guitar shows as usually electric players.

I often go to similar show at Thirsk. It is held in a livestock auction mary where they do excellent bacon and sausage sandwiches. I think there are some guitars there too...
Although the shows can get a little crowded, they are not too noisy and there are quite a few acoustics, including some vintage items. They also usually have a couple of live acts, with an entertaining uke ensemble being memorable. I have never bought much (apart from food) but the shows are good use of a couple of hours.
