Hello all. Will be going to Lancaster on September 27th with a small group of Norwegian folk musicians. We are playing at the Gregson Centre on the 28th. I will also go to Penrith and visit Roger Bucknall (Fylde) in his workshop Friday 29th. I was just wondering, being in Lancashire and Cumbria, if anyone can recommend instrument shops and/or concert venues worth attending during the weekend. Thanks, John

Hope you have a great weekend, dobro. I reckon mandovark will be able to answer your question about Lancaster venues....

Promenade Music in Morecambe is the best music shop in this area. (Website here) For concert venues, it might be worth seeing what's on at the Platform in Morecambe. The Grand Theatre in Lancaster has bands on sometimes too (it's about 5 minutes walk from the Gregson). There are a few pubs in Lancaster city centre that often have live music of an evening - the John O'Gaunt and the Robert Gillow are usually good places to start.
