Thanks Martin... good excuse for a new guitar! Here's another post... this one is on alternating index and middle and when it's not appropriate: Guitar Basics blog I wanted to keep all the videos down to three minutes, but there was a lot to cover. I wasn't going to post on every technique, just the snippets that I find helpful, but for the sake of consistency... The next one will be on the smooth playing of i and m... praps tomorrow. Jonny

I wouldn't bother too much about daily, weekly or just whenever you feel like it. once it's posted, nobody will know anyway when you posted them.

Here's the second part to the previous video on using i and m: Guitar Basics blog - probably the most difficult and most important aspect to playing musically. Jonny

Perhaps the most useful exercise for the left hand: hammer-on and pull-offMay give you something to do if you are snowed in! Jonny

Perhaps the most useful exercise for the left hand: hammer-on and pull-offMay give you something to do if you are snowed in! Jonny Hi Jonny,
Very useful video which I will use myself and send on to my group of learners. I particularly liked your bit about the ring and middle fingers being controlled by 1 tendon which I didn't know. I have seen numerous people struggle to get these fingers working independently and its good to be able to give them a reason for this other than its just them.
Regards
John

Thanks fatfingerjohn. I have lots of exercises I'll be posting in the future on 3rd finger independence - that, and the ring, are pigs to move! Jonny

A little video on stretching the LH fingers to enable better reach. Hope it's helpful. Jonny

An exercise to help RH finger independence and to bring out a melody. Singing along helps, thankfully I don't sing in this video! Jonny

Thanks Julie. Back into it now Christmas is over... here's another post, this time on the use of the ring finger when playing melody - may sound a bit niche, but the important thing is to avoid the thin sound usually produced by the ring finger when playing melody. Jonny

Ooh, I missed this when you first posted Jonny. It's the kind of thing I'm looking for right now and I will enjoy spending some time looking through the material.
