I am becoming slightly deranged by the number of adds that keep appearing on my computer from The North American Guitar. They are all over Facebook, YouTube and even the damn Guardian services me up their adds. As @robbiej points out they are always having a sale.
But their 8th birthday party has sent me over the edge. £25 for a complimentary Champagne and canapés reception.
Apparently, tickets are going fast and they are down few. This was last week. And this. If the tickets are selling like hot cakes why keep trying to flog them too me.
As a (slightly) serious point does anyone else think that this level of blanket advertising is probably not good foe a business in the long term?
Now, that Ivor Mairants. There's a proper guitar shop ;-)

Yeh it’s becoming a farce with TNAG, not only do they keep having a sale, but they keep extending them. Think I will stop following them on Facebook- it’s not even as if I can afford anything from them anyway!
And agree, Ivor Mairants is always worth a pilgrimage to!
Also nice to see TAMCO doing so well these days, thanks to a little more regular updates on Facebook.

Robbie If it wasn’t for the occasional Clive Carroll video/interview, I’d ‘unfollow’ them on Facebook, Robbie. The champagne and canapés are clearly aimed at their ‘target clientele’. For the rest of us, it’s more a case of ‘conna pay’ (those sort of prices)... 😉

Oddly enough, given my collection and past purchase, I haven’t been notified about the birthday party!

I love the marketing video that states he doesn't like marketing.

Lads, you're getting so many ads because of something called "remarketing" It's a service offered by both Google and Facebook. And Youtube/Pinterest. And everyone else who harvests and sells your information. It means once you click on a website, they follow you. And keep showing you ads. They do it because it works. It's a numbers game. If you don't like it, do what I do and get an ad blocker. You can install one in Chrome, Firefox or whatever else you use. And clear your cookies every now and again. No one likes marketing really, especially those who have to do it for a living. But it i s required in a market which reached saturation many years ago. "Milestones" like an 8th birthday are the type of event that can be marketed. It's just how it is. By the way, it's my 30th anniversary for guitar making this year.... Nigel www.nkforsterguitars.com

Congrats nkforster on your 30 years! Surely you can't be that old :-) I do have an Add Blocker but the blighters get everywhere. It wasn't so bad when it was just an ad for a guitar but now I have Montague's horribly cheery tones shouting at me over the speakers!

Ta. I'm celebrating by doing absolutely nothing. No special anniversary model, no party. Nowt. I did send a press release out, but that was it. Taking a few months off.

All I get is Nigerian uncles offering Viagra - how do I get the ones for complementary Champagne and high-end guitars?

All I get is Nigerian uncles offering Viagra - how do I get the ones for complementary Champagne and high-end guitars? No - you have to pay for these. I see it on Facebook. I didn’t mind the adds for guitars but I get videos that instantly launch, featuring the annoyingly bouncy Ben Montague who chats away like a demented 80s DJ.
