Last year or so i have not played much for some reason. I have played all my life and needed to find my mojo again so i thought a new guitar would do the trick. A nice 1971 Guild D40 should do the trick.

Congrats! My first decent guitar was a 1970s Guild ( D35 )- have very fond memories of it. Hope you will enjoy yours hugely.

Excellent! I love that headstock. That guitar is the same age as me too. Nice find!

Congratulations. Guilds have such a rich bass sound. Hope it helps you rediscover your mojo.

It’s got a lovely balanced tone. Frets are low and probably will need a re fret in the not too distant future.

Congrats fellow Guild owner. I took delivery of a D40 Bluegrass model two weeks ago. Nicely balanced guitars.
Enjoy,
Vinny

You’d think though after all these years of buying guitars i’d check guitars out properly before buying them as the Guild needs a neck reset. Poo!!

Andy P is also a Guild owner - Andy...? (smell of burning rubber as breedlover screeches in five days later...) Yes I am. I bought my D25 new in Manchester in 1980. I was the envy of Crewe Folk Club as it was generally regarded as the best sounding guitar amongst us resident players. Then they started buying Martins and Taylors.... It's still on the stand here beside me and gets played a bit most days. It has a beautiful tone, but it lacks much depth or projection. It's astonishingly heavy, built like a tank and I doubt the action has moved much in 38 years! It's been through the wars and carries a number of scars, although the surgery to repair the snapped neck was so professionally performed that it's hard to find the join, even when you know where to look. It also had a metal music stand dropped on it by a former band-member (thanks Viv). Sorry to now learn that yours needs a neck re-set bellyshere . I know exactly how that feels (having a guitar that needs it, not having my own neck re-set ). Good luck with it.

It sounds nice and i don’t mind fixing up old guitars. My guitar man rolls his eyes when i bring him stuff. I’ve rolled up with some right dog ends in the past.
