A guy did a three song slot at the session In co-running on Sunday. He’d asked whether I could record his set but aid forgotten my recorder.
Sometimes it is nice to record slots. One club I know automatically does this. The guy who wants me to record his sets tells me that one open mic is recording acts and offering the sound files on a memory stick for £5! Has anybody else heard of this?
If costs nothing to record a track and nothing to email it, if you have the heat already!

£5 is what I've charged to record open mic sets in the past. I don't think it's a scam - more of a nominal amount to acknowledge someone's time and expertise. No one is getting rich at a fiver a time, although I could see your point if someone was charging hundreds.
I usually record the board feed on one track & a room mic on a second one. Sticking them into a DAW & tidying them up then blending them together to get a halfway decent sound is about thirty minutes work for me on top of the time on the night. I don't think £5 is outrageous for the time spent.

Hmm. I'll think about it. Am not always sure this is right though! Personally, I've not seen people charging before.
