Does anyone have any experience of BGDGAD.
Just trying it and the slackness of the strings, specifically the B is very challenging. It's not very forgiving.
Any tips?

I would avoid it! i think B is just too low. I'm often at C and that's with a fanned fret on the bass. I guess you would always be using a capo.
This would seem to be a variation on a G sus 4 tuning. I play two versions of this the first with the bass at D and the second with the bass at C. Dropping down to C can be very interesting — it basically gives you Blues They Run the Game almost automatically. Mainly I stay at D as this gives a little more harmonic variation than Open G. I'll have a crack at the B though and report back!

I can only describe it as being a bit floppy, there is a very fine line between getting a lovely low bass note and what sounds like dustbin lids blowing in the wind.

I played around with this a bit last night.
It is a G tuning so you are effectively playing on the top 5 strings and looking for interesting harmonies on the 6th (bass). There is an interesting, almost melancholic, sound on fret 5 (bass) and 7-8. even with my fan fret I was having to capo on 2 or 3. It seemed a bit limited to me and I seemed locked into that melancholic sound. It is very loose and flappy at the bottom and I', not sure it offers very much really.
How did you find it?

Thought I remembered this. Clive Carroll - standard tuning with B in the bass.

Maybe that’s why I am not as keen on that tune. He’s really not using the bass string that much!

Floppy but it ay work with thicker gauge strings and it needs a gentle touch.

I’ve played around with this for the best part of a week now. I don’t get it - it it is beyond me.

That's why I got into building guitars, so I could have one for each of the main tunings that I played in, strung with the correct gauge string for that tuning. Would get a bit expensive though if you had to buy the guitars!
