For me it has to be Joe Walsh. All the way back to his days with the James Gang he has been an exceptional slide player and has done some really top notch tutorials. Interesting. Are the tutorials electric or acoustic?

These days I prefer to hear blues played on a spider bridge reso rather than a biscuit. Interesting. I do too.

There's some great names here, but what about Charlie Patton, Tampa Red, Buddy Woods, Sylvester Weaver, Willie McTell, Bukka White, Black Ace. And that's before we get onto more modern players, let alone electric sliders.
Who's the greatest? Not possible to say, obviously, as so much of it is down to personal taste. And btw, has anyone mentioned Robert Johnson yet?
And Rainer Ptacek, astonishing slide player.

That made me laugh. I once had a similar experience. I put the style one tricone on its stand ready to perform only for an audiance memeber to say, "Ah, we'll be having some steel guitar then." I let that one go, but then he said, "So you'll be doing lots of tunes by the Faces then." "The Faces? " I said. "Why the Faces?" "Well," came the reply, "That slide guitar, they invented it, didn't they."
But then again, I once had an irate punter come up to me at the interval, having played songs by Blind Lemon, Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson, Tampa Red etc, to be told, in no uncertain terms, "That's not the blues. You sound nothing like Aerosmith." Apparently they did a "blues" album once which was, obviously, the only blues he'd ever heard. What can you say?
One of my other favourites is, "Can you do American Pie, by Madonna?" It really is hard not to be rude sometimes........
And yes, another vote for Willie Johnson from me too, if I absolutely had to pick one.

Sorry. Can't really help with this. Not sure what the dimentions of a classical guitar are (do they not vary anyway?) But this might help. It shows the size of National guitars, including the Triolian www.nationalguitars.com/specs

SM58s are really great mikes but not the best option for an acoustic straight into a combo. There are some superb reasonably priced condenser mikes out there but my go to no-nonsense mike for acoustic is an SM57. I have used my ancient SM57 for countless years for miking up guitar and bass cabs as well as miking up acoustics and it does everything so well. Very easy to set up and tough as nails. It is one of the very few dynamic mikes that work well for acoustics. I have never had any problems with volume with the SM57 and I normally place it around 10" from the guitar, pointing diagonally at the 12th-14th fret. At the moment I am using it straight into an ACUS for strings acoustic amp, without a preamp, and for what I want/need it is perfection. You can pick up a SM57 for peanuts and they are definitely worth trying. Although they are not necessarily thought of as the ultimate acoustic compatible mike I have always had great results with a SA2200 and they are not expensive. In fact there are numerous great condenser mikes between £100 and £200. Another vote for the SM57. And the AKG C1000S.

This is wonderful stuff. He plays over here with Michael Messer with whom he has recorded. Once we're back to normal and they're touring again, it's well worth the ticket.

Found this and had to share:
And here's the original:
What a life story!
I do believe a little known British beat combo from the 60s also did a version..........Wonder what happened to them?
