Hi Peter, I totally agree about trying something different from the usual, Merchant City Music sells the Auden Julia lovely looking guitar but just outside my price bracket Thanks for the input. Ian

I’ve also got a similar problem with a work related RSI on my 1st and 2nd fingers of my fretting hand, Numbness and tingling set in after about 40 mins of playing, Voltarol 2.32% gel and a good set up help a bit but nothing permanent.

Hi,
I’ve recently purchased a Gretsch G9511 parlour guitar, I think the strings on it are bronze and squeak a lot when I’m playing it, my wife says it’s driving her nuts. Any recommendations on strings that would alleviate this issue.
Cheers Ian

Hi Robmc, If your ever in the Glasgow area let me know, it would be great to meet and have a jam. I opted for Adirondack spruce and Mahogany waited 2years my pride and joy.

Hi Robmc, Glad you liked the video one of my favourites. I bought my Kinkade Kingsdown 6 years ago must admit I’ve owned a few Taylor’s, a Lowden and Numerous high end Martins, but my Kingsdown is a really special guitar the only other that sounded to me as good was a Collings Om1a that I tried. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Hi Richard, I can remember using earthwood extra lights on an old ibanaz 12 string guitar in the eighties always loved the sound don't know about on a 6 string lowest I would go is 11s.

Hi Keith and Martin,
I think nowdays the Internet in particular YouTube play a big part in learning, which I must admit I've also enjoyed, but I think it's really important for people to have a jam with other people. Maybe it's old hat but I think you can learn so much from human interaction.

Hi Martin, After lot of positive feedback from a gumtree ad Ithought it was going to do well but sadly only two people turned up on the first night, We did have a good laugh. Even worse the second week no one turned up. So I've put the idea to bed. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that.

Hi, I read this post and thought it was a good idea. I've been a bedroom guitarist for too many years so decided to put an ad in gumtree to see if anyone else was interested in joining a guitar club, I've got about 12 replies so far. I've managed to hire a room in my local community centre. This is the first time I've done anything like this, there's no rules it's just bring your guitar and have some fun. I'll let you know how it goes. Ian
