From a book my wife has on "Pen and Ink" Art. A page called "Draw absent-mindedly".
"Working in such a relaxed way - especially where there is no aim except to enjoy the process of drawing - encourages freshness and experimentation and, inevitably occasional failures."
That struck me as having a definite parallel in playing guitar.
That art book page had the words "doodled away" in the first paragraph. Artistic doodling and musical noodling .... much the same thing. For good measure they even rhyme.
In both cases if mistakes occur they can sometimes be incorporated into the end product, or the attempt can be binned as a failure. The rewards when it all falls into place are big.
It seems to me.

Style begins with making mistakes.
