Pierre Bensusan is a real one-off and so talented he doesn't need the help of open strings to make him sound good!! But I'm feeling that quite a lot of his work doesn't have that strong a DADGAD signature to it .... more of a Bensusan signature. Oh, for 1% of his talent, or for his huge hand span. Mark

Quite! DADGAD needs those open strings to reveal its distinct tonal palate. Then again Pierre Bensusan's use of DADGAD has hardly any open strings in play Yes but Pierre is not Human :-) And look at the body posture? I bet he has real back problems :-)

Mark Pierre is indeed very talented but I suspect even more important is his dedication and single focus!

It does look a bit strange though.

I saw him at 'Le Chat Noir' bar in Geneva when I was a student... sat a couple metres away from him, which was a mistake as I ended up covered in his spit as he sang.
So few people play his pieces as they are a nightmare - I used to play 'Wu Wei', perhaps will revisit it when my hand is better.

I used to spend a lot of time in France and have seen him quite a few times (never had the spit experience though). He was friends of some friends of mine in Paris. Over there he is often considered to be a singer songwriter and — if I recall properly _ Intuite is still his only fully instrumental album.
He takes his songwriting seriously and although a lot of non French speakers can't stand it I can cope with it. That lispe is a bit off putting in French as well as English.
He's nowhere near as good as Gabriel Yacoub.
