Lovely instrument. Can't beat a nice Sitka top with Rosewood back & sides :-)

Gorgeous guitar, Russell! That's a very special collection of lovely instruments you have. Maybe I should start downsiz.... nah! : I got up to 12 guitars, 6 years ago. We’ve moved towns/cities twice since then so I started downsizing and now have 6. How could anyone manage with just six?

If that guitar sounds anywhere near as nice as it looks, which I'm certain it does, then it's a truly wonderful instrument. I'm very envious as I think slot headed 12 fretters are the bees knees. No argument from me - all of my flattops are 12 fretters. With wider fretboards, the convenience of slotted head-stocks, and the placement of the bridge in the lower bout - they are (IMHO) simply a superior design to the later 14 fret "rhythm" guitars.
I have recently acquired a style "0" (Eastman e20-p) and have a British made 00 (which sounds more like a dreadnought) , and a Collings 0002h.
I suspect that the Martin 00 12 rfet design might be the aesthetically most beautiful design ever, and possibly the most tonally pure.
(How do you post images here if you don't have a dropbox a/c?)

Count me in on the 12 fret club. I have 4 versions of a 12 fret 00. Two Santa Cruz 0012, one Bashkin plus a Waterloo WLK.

Most of my guitars are 12 fretters, I even have 12 fret arch top with a slotted headstock, how about that!

It was custom made for me by Markku Henneken in Finland. An excellent maker but he had a bit of bad press due to a failure to make deliveries. I don't know if he is still building.

There's a really nice piece on Eric Skye in the latest issue of the Fretboard Journal. I read it last night it put me in a really good place. I've been listening to his music today and really enjoying it.

I even got some parenting tips form the podcast, not just guitar stuff.

Lovely guitars!
I’m a big fan of 12 fretters and slotted headstocks. Not quite sure how many I currently own. 9 or 10 ranging from size 2 (1860 ish) to 0-12 times 5, 00-12 times 2, 000-12 and a Santa Cruz H-12.
Interested to know if the different neck widths affect your playing?

Interested to know if the different neck widths affect your playing? Thanks. Of my 6 guitars, 5 are 00s and 4 have 12 fret necks and 3 have slot heads. I have no real issues going between my guitars with their different nut widths. I like a wide nut now and I don’t like anything less than a 1 3/4 nut. When we stay up the Sunny Coast at the in-laws I struggle with my father in-laws guitar which has a 1 11/16th nut. The Skye being the widest I own was easy to adjust too. Just as important to me though is the neck, I need a full not skinny neck. Both Santa Cruz guitars have V profiles, the Bashkins which I’ve owned the longest have a decent C profile. My Waterloo WL14 has a cricket bat neck and there a full C on my Waterloo WLK. I like Martins modified V allot too.

You'll have seen that I just got a D-18GE - that's my first Martin mod-V neck and I really like it. It does feel a little strange that it's 1 3/4 though. My Santa Cruz dread is 1 11/16 and that feels right to me for a dread. I'm quite comfortable switching guitars too, but I do have a favourite and there is a transition when I switch.
Thanks again for the podcast rec. I have it in my app now, along with some others that I downloaded from the back catalogue, including Daryl Stuermer! I'm a huge fan of Genesis so I'm looking forward to listening to those ones!
