I can't be the only one on here who has too much stuff. Not just guitars though. I have all sorts of guitar and music related stuff, mics, amps, stands, tonnes of pedals, hifi gear and loads of vinyl and cd's. I'm out of control and i put a post up today about buying another. I need help. Nobody wants to buy stuff though so i'm stuck with it all.

Our house and loft are lined and packed with stuff we know we won't throw away. We just treat it as extra layers of insulation.
Besides, it makes your home a place of rediscovery, for things like that forgotten Woolworth's LP that turns out to have some great playing by Jethro Burns or autographed programmes for forgotten gigs. Last year out of curiosity I put a new battery in the motherboard of a Win 98 PC and there, among other things, were Messenger transcripts of conversations with Alan Plater and Peter Tinniswood among others. I know how the fourth Beiderbecke would have gone if Bolam had agreed to do it.

Don’t get me started on the loft. It’s rammed up there.

Garage is the main problem - barely possible to get through from one end to the other for the (usefulish) junk that's in there. Not really a big problem until now, when I may well need to consider having the garage converted to a bedroom/bathroom. Some stuff can be chucked, but much will need to be accommodated in (yet to be purchased) shed no.4. The next problem is where to put that shed....

Problem with sheds is you can’t put anything nice in them.

Problem with sheds is you can’t put anything nice in them. You clearly haven't seen what's inside the ocarolan shed then. It's contents are very nice indeed and no it's not guitars...…….

I have guitars, and guitar amps, mic stands, and a clarinet and a saxophone, music stands, a few pedals etc etc as well. Loads of CDs and LPs and 45s, too. Yep. then there's three bikes - my road-bike, my hybrid (which is my main bike these days) and my mountain bike (an old rusty thing which is what I use when I go to town on account of no-one will want to nick it, and if they do, I won't be too bothered. Especially as the brakes don't work...). A motorbike, too. I have, at last, count 11 fishing rods - most of which get used - and all the associated tackle and bags and chairs for various types of fishing. I have a few cameras and lenses. I have so many books it's crazy - some of them are big, too! I work from home now and again, often enough that I don't have a desk at work and therefore home, and the garage, is full of work files and what not. I have painting and drawing material and books and pads and boards and brushes...
And yet, the garage is mostly filled with other people's junk, and the boy's trainer collection dwarfs everything else.
Phew.

I must be the odd one out - I love chucking staff out. I feel stressed and claustrophobic if there's a build-up of stuff.
ocarolan I don't recommend another shed. Just think of the space that a shed would take up - you could build a pond and enjoy waiting for the frogs to move in.

Ebay is your friend.
About 18 months ago I decided I would very much like a resonator and settled on a Michael Messer one for about £600 - but decided it would have to be a cash neutral event.
I sifted through my pile of “junk” (like most people, I have lots) and within a couple of months had the guitar. Stuff I sold included...an old film 35mm camera, a load of old LP’s, a pile of old US car registration plates picked up in garage sales, a flag, two old semi-antique adding machines, an audio interface sound card, some books........etc etc etc
New guitar, less “junk”, happy people all around, and fun watching the auctions.
What’s not to like?
