I've noticed there seems to be a fair few three-sensor no-name soundboard pickups available on ebay & AliBaba, sometimes available for pennies.
I just wondered if anyone has tried any of them & what your experiences were?

I've only tried JJBs and they are as good as K&K in my opinion. They are no longer as cheap as they used to be, though they do still come in at less than a K&K.

Still just under half the price of a K&K by the looks of things! At £40 I'm more inclined to trust them than I would be some of the ones that cost a fiver, especially if they come with your endorsement!

I'm a big fan of the K&K, and for a new guitar will only fit them, spoiling the ship.... If fitting a cheaper alternative it might be worth putting them in with double sided tape first to test them out, (output will be a bit down) as getting superglued transducers off of a bridge plate can be quite unnerving and can cause considerable damage to the plate.

I rarely like any pickup in an acoustic guitar (mics are best) but I have used the JJB and it worked just fine. I bought a Martin D18v once that had a K&K already installed and it worked OK, too. Don't really recall being able to tell much difference between the two. You can buy some really cheap little transducers on Ebay but wouldn't trust the quality. I think there are some vids on YT of people trying them.

One day I will only play to quiet listening audiences in theatres and make sound engineers tremble in fear as I pull an LDC out of the case during soundcheck 😈 Pretty sure I am going to take a punt on a JJB. Worst case is I have to swap back to the soundhole I have now & it's cost me £39.99+p&p. Best case - I get a plugged in sound just as good as my nice guitars.
