They have a roughened surface so they don't slip out of your hand. Priority number one for me if I use a pick. Helps keep muscles relaxed and picking more fluid.

I have a pick that I found down the back of an old sofa, a thick blue Stagg thing. I believe it's for bass guitar. So the previous owner of that sofa musta been a bass player!

If they stopped making Fender heavies I'd be in trouble. I use them for everything, because I know what they'll sound like from the lightest to the hardest touch and the plastic works smoothly on the strings without undue clicking.

I just let them wear into place. I have one I call Old Blue which will stay attached to my thumb when I take my fingers away. Doesn't even need the morning coating of marmalade.

Hi, gave away a load of those Dunlop big stubbys at my last club.
Here's a thing ! For those of you who, like me, like picks thicker than 1.4 m/m and (not like me0 ourn the passing of reap TS picks (got loads of 'em - never use them) there are some rather nice Buffalo horn picks on ebay from whoever trades under the old "Clifford Essex" name - I was given one by one of my pals, liked it so sent for a pack of 5 (£12) - liked them even more and just got another pack - they'll see me out! I got large triangles - but other shapes are available -beveled and perforated (like Wegens).
Buffalo horn looks and sounds like TS but like TS - it wears.
