Ok @scorpiondog I did that tuning, but had to raise the second string up a tone, but check this out. Finger picking and barre practice! Something to work on! I see you've incorporated my mistake minorkey - and discovered the blues! Well done that man!

Thanks. Such fun. Is this like Travis picking?

Thanks. Such fun. Is this like Travis picking? Not quite. You're looking to have the thumb playing the bass line and the fingers picking a pattern or the melody with Travis picking. But the arpeggios you're playing there is one way to start. Doing well, minorkey.

The problem is my fingers don't agree! Terrible buzz all over the place Try holding down the shape and plucking each string to identify where the buzz/muffle is coming from. Then adjust your position until you get rid of the buzz... Then repeat and so on... you might find another string is now buzzing. Eventually your fingers should get used to holding down the chord shape in a less buzzy way. Or it could be that the action on your guitar is a bit too low, so you're getting some buzz on the frets? BTW... after years of playing I avoid Barre chords where I can. I get a really sore hand if I play them a lot - bad positioning and holding down too firmly. So you're not alone!

Oh I know where the buzz is coming from, my soft index finger not used to barring. Plus when I lay the finger down my other fingers shift position

The barre finger does not have to press evenly across the strings - working at open tuning barres can train the finger into positions inappropriate for barre chords. For normal standard tuned barre chords barre finger only needs to fret the bass end and the treble end, leaving the other fingers to form the relevant shape above the barre.
The most crucial thing is to press with the tip of the finger on the most appropriate bass string, then form the other notes above the barre as necessary, then move your whole arm back towards you letting your first fingertip be a pivot, still fretting the bass, until the other end of the barre finger contacts the treble string(s)and frets them, hopefully cleanly. Sometimes, slightly rolling the barre finger towards the nut can help to get harder bits of the finger pressing on the treble string(s).
And, you don't have to strum all six strings, and if picking, you don't need to form all the chord, which can make life a lot easier if a barre is absolutely necessary. Quite often, it isn't!

I find barring quite uncomfortable bordering on bloody painful!

Grief. Are you lot still banging on about barre chords? The devils work. Along with tin guitars.

...says the owner of a fan fret guitar in some weird tuning... I like weird ... Then a guitar made of steel, and basically containing nothing more than an upturned pie plate, that nevertheless creates so much noise should be right up your street!
