www.alfred.com/joni-mitchell-complete-so-far/p/00-40964/This is an interesting book of her guitar tunings, but only gives a flavour of each song, the intro in most cases, not the full tab/sheet music. The way they are indexed is good, by album, by tuning, and alphabetical order. Trouble is, with the few I’ve learned, I can’t really manage the vocal pitch! Just another thing I had to have... Vinny I do Both Sides Now in Open G at capo 2 or 3. She used open D capoed up. Totally wrong key for me. There’s no requirement to sing or play in the same key and it’s an incentive to change the arrangement.

Thanks, Chris. I have my own unique way of butchering tunes, both playing and singing. On another note of open tuning, hearing you play and sing The Lakes of Ponchartrain in Halifax encouraged me to give it a go. I’m no Paul Brady but it’s recognisable.

This might be useful, glad it helped. There’s no need to copy songs exactly as the original or somebody else’s version. If someone tells me I do covers I always say no I do interpretations. I tell the story in my own way.

Yes one of my favourite performances at HB10 was Chris' version of this. Mind you at my first HB he also provided a moment in the C of D that will live with me forever. It had been a very good round of playing and singing then right near the end Chris stood up and uttered those dreaded words 'Has anyone got a banjo they can lend me?
