Wondering if this would be fun and be a long-time runner?
What are your favorite lyric lines? Any subject, genre; happy, funny, sad, deep and meaningful, or just plain beautiful lines. No rules really apart from it should try to be one line only, or maximum 2 lines to give context or completion. Only three entries from different songs per post, but post as often as you like. No continuity from previous posts needed necessarily.
Here's 3 from me to get started ....
Lindisfarne, Fog on the Tyne. 'Sittin in a sleazy snack-bar suckin sickly sausage rolls'
Kris Kristopherson, Sunday Mornin' Coming Down. 'Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had another for dessert'
Victoria Wood. The Ballad of Barry and Freda (Let's Do It). 'Beat me on the bottom with a Woman's Weekly'
"Everything is possible, but nothing is real" Living Colour - Type
"Made a sharp turn and hooked a beeline, for that tender minute mender bad news sender liquid vendor" Love/Hate - Evil Twin
"Pink, it's like red but not quite..." Aerosmith - Pink
"It's hard to get by, when your arse is the size of a small country" Divine Comedy - National Express
And a long one...
"Do you ever get that feeling, Where you want to punch the ceiling, So you lay down on the floor, You can't take it any more, In your search for absolution, There is only one solution, Kicking pigeons in the park" Bowling for soup - Kicking pigeons
walkingdecay: Sadly the long awaited release of Homegrown hasn't granted us a vital missing piece of the Neil Young puzzle after all. I suspect Neil gets all his puzzle pieces from different boxes anyway.

walkingdecay: I still have a 'Release Potatoland' badge. Worth at least a million quid, I reckon.

NewDave: Johnson's greatest is achievement is making that blithe, insouciant lightweight Cameron seem statesmanlike. That LBC interview. Holy Cow!

walkingdecay: One of the weird things about that stupid virus is that symptoms reappear weeks later. Last week I felt like housebricks had replaced key joints of my body; now I find I can't taste anything again.
Jul 4, 2020 7:32:19 GMT
ocarolan: Housebricks for knees? There is mortar this virus than first appears! But sorry to hear that Pete - hope you will recover soon - all the best to you and Mrs Decay - stay safe.
Jul 4, 2020 9:46:16 GMT
walkingdecay: "mortar..." I like it!

walkingdecay: Regarding covid, the echoing symptoms get us down, but under it all we're happy just to have survived it. The media and government made it sound as if anyone in our age group who got it was all but doomed during those early days.
Jul 4, 2020 20:21:53 GMT
walkingdecay: I'll echo your "Stay safe" to you and everyone else Keith, as the disease can really knock you about and it's far from beaten yet, but in the event that anyone does get it, they should bear in mind that it's unlikely to kill them.
Jul 4, 2020 20:31:29 GMT
walkingdecay: Being as downright frightened as I was only made those days worse, as did my wife's guilt over her unproven supposition that she brought the virus home.
Jul 4, 2020 20:40:32 GMT
walkingdecay: Didn't mean to say all that. Mind diarrhoea.
Jul 6, 2020 10:09:13 GMT
walkingdecay: I've always had it though...
Jul 6, 2020 13:03:07 GMT
ocarolan: ... a sign of a well-rounded personality then!
Jul 6, 2020 16:37:17 GMT
Akquarius: Pete, I wish you and your wife a fast recovery. Tis virus is a mean little devil.
Jul 6, 2020 19:27:42 GMT
robmc: Isn't mind diarrhoea the same thing as a stream of consciousness after 4 pints and chicken vindaloo? I have that quite a lot
Jul 7, 2020 11:51:29 GMT
walkingdecay: Thanks Bernd. We're lucky, I think. Some of the after effects that others are suffering make ours look like nothing. As The Mothership said this morning, "We got away with it."
Jul 8, 2020 14:21:52 GMT
walkingdecay: Rob: Eruptions at both ends?
Jul 8, 2020 14:23:02 GMT
curmudgeon: Catching up, So sorry for Walkingdecay and his battle with Covid-19. I'm "shielded" -had cancer treatment in 2017, bronchiecstatis from pneumonia and heart stents. I've still worked the allotments, cycled, etc. They'd give me morphine and wait.
Jul 9, 2020 10:04:31 GMT
robmc: Well hopefully you'll steer clear curmudgeon....Eruptions both ends Pete, that may have been the inspiration for Eddie Van Halen! It reminds me of a night out with friends and bootleg whiskey as a teenager, eruptions doesn't cover it.
