And a song I am writing is left undone I don't know why I spend my time Writing words I can't believe With words that tear and strain to ryhme - Kathy's song, Paul Simon And this: "And as I watch the drops of rain Weave their weary paths and die I know that I am like the rain. There but for the grace of you go I." The whole song's a poem. It's one of my absolute favourites and has been for well ove 50 years.

Just been re-listening to some James Blunt ..... I know people thing he's a bit naff but he wrote some amazing lyrics
...'I'm not calling for a second chance, I'm screaming at the top of my voice. Give me reason, but don't give me choice, cos' I'll just make, the same mistake again' ....
Song, Same Mistake. (and the music arrangement is brilliant too).

Downed a bit of rum yesterday and wrote some new lyrics.
Don't bring flowers to my wake cause I won't care You can pry my eyes wide open and you'll see I'm not there I'll be out among the stars lookin for a place to land And playin my guitar in an old time country band
I could stay and reminisce but I'll have things to do So don't cry no tears in your beers and I won't cry for you Cause I know we'll meet again that's how it always goes I just don't know where or when I guess we'll have to wait and see how the wind blows
(CHORUS)
May you well and may you live long May you find love and may you get along May you go right and never go wrong And know that life is just another verse in and endless song
Don't bring flowers to my wake cause I won't care You can pry my eyes wide open and you'll see I'm not there I'll be in another place outside the cage In an endless story written on an endless page.
(REPEAT CHORUS)

Not my favourite line, not a line you can really enjoy, but one of the greatest lines of lyric ever written. From Eric Bogle's Green Fields of France (No Man's Land) "Well I hope you died quick And I hope you died clean Or Willie McBride, was is it slow and obscene".
