And high up above my eyes could clearly see The Statue of Liberty sailing away to sea

Some blues:
'My mind was wandering like some wild geese in the west' (Lots of people)
'The way I'm sleeping my back and shoulders tired The way I'm sleeping my back and shoulders tired guess I'll just lie upon my side' (Make me a Pallet on your floor - Mississippi John Hurt and lots of others)
'If you don't want my peaches, don't shake my tree, You don't want my peaches - then let my peaches be' (Sitting on top of the world - Doc Watson amongst others)

One of my favourites from the sixties from Donovan's 'Goldwatch Blues'.
"And if you come to work for us, on this you must agree That if you're going to die, please, do it during tea break"

I fell in love like a drunk in a pond (Cold & Dark & Wet)
World peace is surely on the horizon Once us old f****** die (Eugene)

"Everywhere I go in all the bars I see sad old bastards with guitars..."Terence Blacker. SOBWG. Probably best known to Forumites through the wonderful version by Paul ( scorpiodog)and Charles ( tonywoods), aka Men in Black.

"Victoria dines alone, she skips the potatoes. Victoria begins her meal with greens and tomatoes."
...which doesn't even rhyme in UK English...unless you're American like Tom Paxton who wrote it.

'If I take you dancing down the streets to watch you laughing
Stop still in the spring night rain, just to watch you smile again 'Ralph McTell. Nanna' Song It was you, Keith, that I first heard singing it and lovely it was too. Since then I've seen Ralph sing it live twice, once with Nana (Nanna?) in the audience which made it even more emotional. I think it's the best 'memories of young love without a care' song I know. 'In my dreams you're dancing in the embers of an evening,
And I'll hold your hand a little tight as if to stop this special night,
From running into morning light too soon'.
