I had just entered into a duet situation that was showing a lot of promise when the virus came upon us. Now we've got about 30 songs that we are working on recording using "Audacity" and the internet to exchange tracks and ideas. It's the next best thing I guess but I do miss enjoying a beer or two with him on the breaks.

Hi, Thanks for the interesting replies. One of my targets was to try to crack my Travis picking capability and I'm trying to do 15 minutes a day slowly and then building it up.
Yesterday, very appropriately, I cam across this video when I was watching some John Prine stuff and this guys lesson using one of John's songs is excellent. The first part of the video is strumming the song but at about 9 minutes he goes into the Travis picking style used by John for this song with nice little hammer-ons as well. I'll definitely work on this in the next few weeks. Its well worth a watch if you're like me and haven't cracked it yet.

1. Practice songs by the great Robert Hunter, who died last September, to try to rekindle my interest in acoustic playing and post as a tribute to him. 2. Practice songs by the great John Prine, who died recently, to further rekindle my interest in acoustic playing and post as a tribute to him. 3. Get up early on successive mornings to record before the family get up and those little c..... (read "children," if you will) next door start their shouting and screaming. 4. Listen back to recordings. 5. Scrap recordings when I hear how I sound.

There's a heap of songs that I have "under the fingers" without any fluency so need to keep on with those.
There's also another pile where the fluency is there and they sound great apart from that one bit where It's guesswork each time...so need to go back and just work on those bits.
I'm learning how to frail and play claw hammer style on guitar. Taken a few months to get my head (and fingers)around it but really enjoying it now.

I'm going to put the plectrum down and concentrate more on playing fingerstyle. Playing chords fingerstyle rather than that voice leading technique thingy where you play the melody and chords together, although that technique my be a natural next progression later on. I thought playing The Beatles songs fingerstyle would be nice and I've managed to get half decent playing the songs 'In My Life' and 'And I love Her'.
Whatever you are doing guitar/music wise out there folks......stay safe.

Good idea for a topic! I'm not locked down and still having to go to work, but retiring in less than 3 weeks.
So I think I will return to this thread then and do a list - assuming my old memory cells remind me. Was going to have some sort of list like this anyway to try and help guide my early steps in music playing as a man of leisure.

Since I can't get together with my guitar partner any longer we're recording using a program called "Audacity" on the net. Not as fun as a good old jam session over a couple of brews but fun none the less.

I’m going through my Skeptical Guitar Player Vol. 2 and applying the new theory knowledge to what I play. It’s rather an intellectual exercise but I’m finding it extremely useful and there are lots of lightbulb moments.
I’m gonna return to my Fred Noad classical book after that. I’ve never got beyond half way and I’ve attempted it about four times.
I listened to some Bert Jansch today on my dog walk and feel like tackling a new piece. My first choice would Smokey River but it’s not in any of my books. I’ll do some searching.

Still working on my gypsy jazz and jazz (although mainly gypsy jazz). Aside from my brain not working fast enough I've discovered that I lose articulation / swing / clarity and general musical goodness at around 180 bpm, so my current practice regime is, amongst any things, to practise very specifically on right hand left hand co-ordination.
Still working, but down to a four day week, and with evenings and weekends in lock-down this does give me ample time for such focus.
Whether anything comes of it is another matter altogether.
