Do you?
Do they have names? Genders? Personalities?
I tried once because I thought it might make me appear cute and sensitive but I couldn't pull it off. Plus I forgot the names.

They certainly have individual personalities personalities. But not names, other than those that have model names from their maker.

Yup, mine have names... all of them. Not the mandolins and ukes and what have you, but guitars, bouzoukis and Octave Mandos, yes

My oldest guitar, the 2004 Fender DG5 is named Tilly, a play on the latin name for basswood (Tilia) of which the top is made.

No because that would be insensitive towards the dog , the wife and the son; they might think I liked my guitars more than them

My Tanglewood got a dent in the bottom near the strap button (no idea how) so my partner thought I should name him Arthur...geddit?

Nope. I know a couple of guys that do and it always seems to be girl's names. I did once have an old banger of a car that I called "you b*****d" and I went through a phase of naming houseplants after death metal bands.

Mine do have names when they're referred to in Sunday best terms ... -My precious Milsom, made back and sides from Lacewood is aptly named 'Lacey'. This is perfect as it is gender neutral. When it's giving its all with a good strumming it's is definitely male; but in Fingerstyle it's much gentler, so female (albeit with quite a loud voice, but then that's in character too with the gender ). --My good old Taylor 310ce is simply 'Mr. Taylor', named by one of my guitar group people which has stuck. --My 12-er can only be 'Auden' after the maker. W.H.Auden won the Pulitzer Prize in 1948 for 'The Age of Anxiety' which sums up my decades of trying to play guitar. --My super Turner Koa 92e has lately been renamed simply 'Dee' as I have her permanently tuned to Open D. --And my big Turner is aptly named 'Jumbo' which is the style of guitar and reflects both his size and his booming voice. A bit daft I know but they do have their own personalities so I think deserve recognition. FFJ

I think they’re beginning to suspect. If it goes quiet this end and you see some suspiciously cheap guitars for sale then the worst will have happened...

I've been thinking about an Auden Marlow as a possible parlour. Clearly you think it's good enough to keep. Can you tell me anything more? Have you played any Larrivee 03 guitars? Are they comparable? I know that they are a similar price new. I think the Audens are part built in the Far East (China?) and completed in the UK. Is the build quality good?

Hi, My Auden is a 12-er and by far the best I've played and I've tried quite a few. Wouldn't swap it! After I bought it I arranged a trip to the Auden workshop near Northampton for my guitar group and as a result 2 of them bought 6-ers. The finish and setup is just superb. Yes, the body is built in far east and then the workshop do the machine heads, fretting, setup, lacquer onwards. Tuners and an electrics are usually quality Swiss; Shertler on mine. You can book an appointment to go to their workshop and showroom and play loads of them. John

They definitely look like nice guitars and I've got a bit of GAS at the moment. I should probably sit on my hands. They do look and sound nice though.
