Interesting snippet in Uke magazine by luthier Martin von Humbeck on the use, or not, of Koa as a tonewood.

I have an all Koa Bown 000 that is a great guitar in all respects. I’ve played others equally good.

Best guitar I ever owned had Koa B&S, with a cedar top and was funnily enough, made in Hawaii. Go figure (pun intended)

I have a Martin 00028k 1921 authentic which is all Koa and sounds terrific.

I know my SC13-e isn't all solid wood, it has a sitka spruce solid top but a veneer haha posh laminate I assume, back and sides... I think it is koa and is probably highly braced as per the new innovative design of the guitar. I think the koa is sandwiched with more mahogany.
