Watched Jools Holland interview last night followed by him playing acoustic.
I can't be the only one to notice his right hand finger picking with the index finger tucked tightly into his palm.
Is this a unique style or uncommon?

...if he's learned to play fingerstyle without his first finger that would be really useful for hybrid picking - ie plectrum between thumb and first finger for flatpickin/strumming and then seamless move to fingerstyle using plectrum and fingers 2 & 3 . (eg Richard Thompson etc)

Ah, yes I have seen the plectrum and fingers technique, but I think he was just using the thumb on base notes, no plectrum.
Probably uses both as required.
