What's on your mind?
walkingdecay: A certain celebrity 'author' has contracted to 'write' four more books. Someone I know is going to be busy. Not him, but someone. I've helped to write a couple of autobiographies but this feting of frauds seems plain wrong to me.

walkingdecay: Butterflying on from the thought above, it occurred to me that nobody has written a full scale biography of Larry Parnes. That's definitely a hole in pop history waiting to be filled. Too late for me. I always hated researching in London anyway.

scorpiodog: "The Feting Of The Frauds" sounds like an interesting book title. Maybe ghost written for Tom Wolfe - as he's dead, then "ghost written" would seem to capture the right spirit.

walkingdecay: Ah, what a great writer he was. I'd love to have heard what he'd have made of the Trump era. And I've always wanted to meet someone like Damien Hirst just so I could quote The Painted Word at them and get up their nose.

walkingdecay: Speaking of London, I advised someone that he shouldn't explain the rhyming slang in his book but rather leave it as a characterful mystery. Problem was, he then wouldn't explain what a "cabbage" is to me. It's to do with parties, that's all I know.

walkingdecay: So, anyone know what a "cabbage" is or was he taking the piss? It ran in his family. His dad told of a man called Titanic Ted, supposedly one of the few lower decks survivors of the wreck. It left him so afraid of water that he didn't wash for a year.

walkingdecay: Great thinking Keith - never once thought of cabbage white - but he seemed to think this whatever was a positive. An all night? Then again, having heard his tales of those parts and times it might just be 'fight'!

curmudgeon: I was never really interested in football, but now I realise, it's a girl thing!

walkingdecay: My wife have taken to watching cricket - a family tradition, apparently. I tell her that she needs only to watch a minute at the beginning and maybe another at the end because only the numbers at the top of the screen really change, but to no avail.

walkingdecay: I genuinely appreciate john Cage's work, that his 4"33' of not-really silence and his 0"0' moment of random sound are soundscapes that need to be explored...

walkingdecay: ...but when someone calls 0"33' his 'most musical composition,' as they did on Radio 3 last night, someone is being fooled, and it isn't me.

walkingdecay: Uncle Stavely! Sad about your 'oppo, Corporal Parkinson. Hope he's been properly swept up by now.
