Well it turns out they were actually serious! A very nice man dropped this off earlier today And very nice it is too! Badly needs a new set of strings but at £300 off list price I’m not going to complain. Just need to finish work to try it out properly.

I'm always serious, Onechordtrick, I don't have a sense of humour - that's for cissies. I'm well 'ard.

Yay! Good for you!
Best of luck restringing - 12string slotheads seem to take me ages!

Yay! Good for you! Best of luck restringing - 12string slotheads seem to take me ages! Keith Can't say I'm looking forward to that, but I used to have a slothead mandolin so it can't be worse than that. Can it? or will it be 50% worse? But it will be worth it I think. Judging from the 2010 Vintage brochure and the 2003 "Guitar of the Year" flyer that were in the case it's obviously old stock . I've just tuned down to CGCFGC and it sounds great, just need to get some precision into my fingering and the new strings on.

Aw C'mon you guys! Get a grip! I've got a Martin '64 D12-20 and a similarly aged Harmony H1270. I'll accept that the Harmony has slightly thinner slots and a floating bridge and a tailpiece to deal with, but it isn't that bad!
And here is my (hand held) video showing the process on a slot head 12 string wiih floating bridge and tailpiece. NOTE, I suggest that you run this at 1.5 or even 2 x speed and muted with subtitles on. you'll still get the idea.

Is that the Viator? It looks gorgeous! Thanks! No, it’s the Paul Brett Signature 12 string so parlour sized rather than the aviator which I believe is a travel sized body.

Had it set up properly on Monday and I'm enjoying it even moe! Just need the action lowered and the relief tweaking and it's made a massive difference. Lower tension strings mean its back in DADGAD

Thanks! No, it’s the Paul Brett Signature 12 string so parlour sized rather than the aviator which I believe is a travel sized body. Oh I thought the Viator was a parlour size too, in both 6 and 12 wires Not parlour. Even smaller. They're described as "travel guitars". They're so small I have to use a strap even when sitting down to play but they have a standard(ish) size scale length. I have both the 6 and 12 string versions. The 12 is strung with unison pairs rather than octave pairs for the bass strings. Makes it sound a little mandolin like, but without the cutting through ability of the mandolin. They both have a very pronounced V shape to the neck. I'm not sure I like that too much, but diff'rent strokes. I do play them both from time to time. They're pretty good for the money, which pretty much sums up the "Vintage" brand philosophy. I have the Paul Brett 12 string, too. Great sounding guitar. Amazing volume from the small body. I keep mine tuned down to B (baritone tuning) and it roars. Congrats on your purchase, Onechordtrick. I'm sure you'll have some great times with it. Sometimes, only a 12 string will do.
