Took my guitar to Jon Press in Bristol for TLC and we were discussing dreadnoughts. He was praising the Collings D2. So I've been looking around but they're scarce in this country. One showed up on EBay today listed as new. Bought in the states, with a price of £4000. It obviously wasn't new in the EBay sense and they cost around that new from dealers in the states. Also looks like he's never sold a guitar before. I messaged the chap asking what year it was manufactured and asking how he came by the guitar, saying I'd need to know for such an expensive item. He messaged back saying he bought it in 2018 (new!) and he'd recently started playing it so would need to change the listing... Meanwhile back at the listing: changed to used and he's bumped the price to £10000! 🤔 www.ebay.co.uki/itm/123844587438I wished him luck with his listing...

Thanks minorkey The seller messaged me again and it turns out there are some personal circumstances for the odd listing. A little communication has cleared it up.

I've bought five Collings since 1999, and still have all but the first which I bought new. All the others I bought used via Ebay. The going price IS about £3-£4k,depending on condition and extras, such as adi top ($1000 ish upgrade), baked tops, Collings built cases etc. Remember that US prices never include such things as 20% VAT or shipping and excise costs. Further, beware of any guitar that has been imported or "carried in" unless there is documented proof of import charges. (I had two guitars confiscated by HMRC once because I believed the seller. The increase from £4k to £10k imolies to me that a sale is not required but is deemed as an attempt to sell for "domestic" reasons
