I had a few problems (breakages) with the crowsfoot rings in the rosette so I made myself a little bender which is simply a channel fractionally wider than the crowsfoot strips. It has a straight infeed going into a progressively tighter bend - just under the required bend for the rosette. You could hear the strip cracking (but a uniform cracking) as it was fed through. The pieces in the photo are offcuts and test pieces. I've now glued up the neck and added the neck laminations

Thanks for posting Francis, were the sides in the Fox bender when I visited the sides for this guitar? I love the look of laminate necks.

Thanks for posting Francis, were the sides in the Fox bender when I visited the sides for this guitar? I love the look of laminate necks. No. The sides were out of the Fox style bender. They've had their laminated linings fitted and they are currently sitting in the body mould waiting for me to do some work on the front and back plates to seal the body.
Next job on the neck is to cut the channels for the truss rod and the graphite stiffners. I can do the J45 neck channels then as well.

Cleaned up the top faces of both the neck and headstock to layout the positions of the various 'bits' that go to make up a neck.

Two necks now with slots for truss rods and graphite stiffeners. Nobody will notice the deliberate mistake (probably heard the words though)...

Certainly not me francis . Will you be letting us in on the secret? OK. I marked out and cut the J45 neck to shape before I'd routed the slots for the truss rod and graphite stiffeners. Meaning I had to glue the offcuts back on before I could rout the said channels... Now I have to cut the 'offcuts' off again

Well said earthbalm. I couldn't see it either, but was afraid to admit my ignorance. Doesn't seem like much of a mistake to me. But then I don't pretend to have anything like your skills, francis. I'd be proud enough if I managed to plane something flat or cut it straight!

And we all know why you'd never catch me doing it...

I think I can see the glue lines now you've explained it but it could be just my imagination. As always, looking forward to the next update francis.
