Hi,
For GL nuts like me, on BBC4 TV tonight at 12.30 a.m. is an 'In Concert' of Gordon Lightfoot from 1972. Recording devices ready!

I think they've shown it before? A good few years ago though. I don't have a TV but I might watch it on iPlayer at some point!

He really is a wonderful songwriter and quite under-rated I think!

1972? So when his voice was at its peak… thanks for the heads up, FFJ - I shall certainly be recording this!

I'll certainly record this. I wonder if there is any chance he'll sing "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"?

I hope not - since the Edmund Fitzgerald didn't sink until 1975 so, if he does, I'll be unable to draw any other conclusion than that he was involved in planning her sinking at least 3 years in advance...

I went to see him in Birmingham about 3 years ago and of course his voice was half shot and his guitar somewhat limited because of his finger problem but the experience was still excellent and his backing musicians covered well. His touring programme is still amazing considering he's 83 and has had major health problems over the years. His 2021 tour is taking him to over 50 venues between now and the end of the year across the whole of US and Canada. I don't know how he does it, sometimes 4-5 in a week. J

He really is a wonderful songwriter and quite under-rated I think! Bob Dylan said he was/is one of his favorite songwriters and of course he recorded a very early version of Early Morning Rain. In an oft-quoted comment, Dylan said that when he heard a Gordon Lightfoot song he wished “it would last forever”.

Thank you, but the bbc iplayer is only accessible in the UK. Sorry I hadn’t noticed your location. That's OK, I can get some BBC sounds broadcasts but not the iplayer or the TV channel. It's very irritating, I can get hundreds of TV channels that I would never want to watch but not BBC4, which is a real shame.
