Here is a really good, and very clear, lesson by Charlotte Carrivick on, what I think, is the difficult skill of simple Bluegrass rhythm guitar. Amongst other things, she covers holding a plectrum, how to get a loose floppy wrist, how to avoid getting that jangly overpowering sound, and tuning so that the B thing sounds OK. If you're not interested in Bluegrass the technique would work for any rhythm I would think.
Here is the technique in action in a live performance - the rhythm bit is at 1 minute 30.
Apart from being a good lesson the first video is also 20 minutes of a sweet sounding Bourgeois Guitar.

.. I always presumed most men already have at least one loose floppy wrist....
Excellent vids Martin - I love the Carrivick's music and their stuff with Midnight Skyracer too.
Never could get on with that pick grip though - I became a thumb and two fingertips pick holder quite early on. Could explain a lot....
Keeping a decent solid rhythm, as many open-mics will demonstrate, is more difficult than it seems!
