So I parted ways with my Collings today - bit sad but nice to have paid off a big chunk of debt which I've accrued through retraining this year when I got home this afternoon.
So, after a long list of guitars (Gibson J45, Martin 00015SM, Fylde Alexander, Martin 00018, Martin 00028VS, Martin Ditson, Collings OM2hssvn, Lowden S25, Collings OM2HT) I'm back where I started 13 years ago with just my Martin OM28v.
Actually feel pretty good about it - I've hardly been playing since I started my college course back in September and, now I'm working full-time and not relying on performing for income, I'm slowly starting to get the bug again, and it sort of feels fitting that it's my OM by my side as I start this new chapter.
anyway, not really the most interesting post but I thought it needed marking somehow! Hopefully I'll be popping on here a bit more often and I'm continuing my videos for acoustic review so I'll 'see' some of you on the youtube!

Good luck with your future and your Martin is a very nice, single guitar to own. I seem to have permanent GAS but just having one good guitar allows that special bond between guitar and player to flourish.

Yes, good luck with your chosen path Ben. Hopefully you'll have the best of both worlds I know you are probably a bit sorry to lose such a gorgeous guitar but I often think just having one guitar that you are completely satisfied with is the ideal situation so you can just concentrate on one thing which is playing. It's great to have paid off a large part of your debt and also I don't think you'll regret going back to one really good guitar again. I have only one acoustic and that works fine for me (although I must admit to have a yearning for a 2nd guitar!). Martin's V series are really excellent guitars and if you are going to have only one guitar an OM has to be it.....a perfect compromise. Good luck and enjoy the Martin!!

One guitar guy - I'm sure there's a song in there somewhere! Hopefully music can be more fun again without the pressure to earn a living from it. All the v best with the "new chapter", Ben.

Keith Sounds like heresy to me and really not the sort of thing that we should encourage round here Worthy of a at the very least... Good luck Ben and I'm still disappointed that your Oxford gig was cancelled.

Hi Ben,
Glad you have financial security but very glad to hear that you'll continue to perform.

Best of luck with the new direction Ben! One thing for sure - you may be down to a single guitar, but you'll sound damn good on it. Mark

Very admirable sir 👏
Hope your new direction goes well and the OM continues to delight you. Something very liberating about having one guitar 🤔

My Wife used to work for an optometrist. She would get sets of glasses for me at cost. At one time I had 30 pair. Guess how many I actually wore. One. You'll be just fine.

Good for you! I have three guitars on rotation on gigs and in recording, but I sometimes envy those who are satisfied with one, Wizz Jones and his Epi Texan as an outstanding example. Good luck combining "day Job" and gigging/recording!

Brave move! But, good choice, OM28 must surely be the Swiss Army knife of the guitar world. Best of luck with your new hybrid lifestyle.
