Ordered a mandolin strap from Bev last week - she's just put it in the post for me with next day delivery so I can use it tomorrow night when Glyn and I will be playing together, and separately. (Especially separately if he wears that shirt....). Strap is a plain and simple non-adjustable one from endpin jack to heel strap-pin Attachment DeletedOoh, I'll have three of Bev's straps on the go tomorrow night now! Keith

Bev and I are in contact about what colour would be best for my cedar/mahogany Lakewood. Keith, we are of different opinions about Glyn's shirt. I really like it though it has gained a reputation that is not exactly in my line...

That's great news Bernd - looking forward to seeing that strap at Halifax! Here's my Tamar leather straps in use last night - oh, and some instruments too. And too many untidy leads! Attachment DeletedLove the feel and the look of these straps! Keith

Here's a picture of the strap: Bev will use a colour named "spanish brown for dyeing, which is a bit warmer than the shade you see in the picture. Also, there has to be made an adjustment on one of the holes so it fits the strap/pickup pin of my Lakewood. She seems to know quite a bit about what's needed to make a custom fit guitar strap... She hasn't decided yet whether she will use the strap she already has made or if she'll make a new one for me. Let's see. Keith, I hope the gig last night was what you and Glyn were expecting ?

That strap is a lovely piece of work Bernd! I usually ask Bev for a 9mm hole for the end that goes over the endpin jack. 10mm would probably fit better to begin with, but leather loosens up with use anyway, so I'm sticking with 9mm. I always just slightly round off the corners where the circular hole meets the slit on any strap which makes getting them on less fiddly. Last night's gig was really good fun. Only a couple of dozen folks, but very appreciative, and some good banter. Attachment Deleted The most atrocious weather put off a lot of people from coming out, and we had several apologies by phone during the early part of the evening. Strangely, it was mostly the older folk who made the effort in the end - Glyn and I have a fair number of groupies in the 70 plus age bracket!! The outside doors, and the hall doors kept blowing open in the wind fairly often and so the temperature was pretty chilly - Glyn played the final spasm with his coat on. (At least it covered up his latest shirt purchase....) Keith

Here's a picture of the "making of" of my belated birthday present And this is what it looks like now. Bev said, she'll do the dyeing in the next few days, so I might have it here next week.

Great stuff, Bernd... Looks really good. I'm chuffed Bev is getting some work from the forum - her craftsmanship is top class... And Rupert got some business too (Bear straps) , so all is good

Lovely looking job - and tones in beautifully with the guitar, Bernd!
I think HB5 could see quite a collection of Bev's work on display!

I'm trying to decide on a colour/design for a strap for CBM. I like the colour of Keith's first one on here, and I also like the colour/design of Bernd's basket weave strap. What would be a good match to CBM?

Have you sent Bev a pic or two that are representative of the wood shades? She might be able to match pretty closely? If not, maybe a fair bit darker might work well. Are you thinking plain or with any fancy bits Martin? Keith
