I'm with Clydeslide on this. Just love following guitar builds - not least my own! I'd love to watch the build in person.
Bring it on, Dave!

Clydeside and Alasdair - thanks, "guitar pimping" is one of my favourite pastimes Clydeside - resistance is useless The Lime tailblock is then glued to the sides using fish glue with the two 8mm carbon fibre rods in place.

It's great, almost as good as knowing it's coming your way...
My resistance might be, I think my wifes' might be a little stronger on this though...

At last - the chance for more progress: The sides are profiled for the back’s curvature and the oak reverse-kerfed linings are glued in using fish glue: The sides are profiled for the top’s curvature and the oak reverse-kerfed linings are glued in using fish glue:

Really looking forward to this one.
Is reverse Kerfling something you do with every guitar or are you just doing it on this one? And why do you do it?

Clydeside, I've used it on all of my instruments for a long time and make my own from neck blank off-cuts mostly. The reverse kerfed linings look neater with less glue trapped between the kerfs on show. It also helps stiffen the rim-set.

Phil and Alasdair - thanks. Question, davewhite: Why did you opt for a slothead? I'm no expert but, from an owners point of view, I would imagine that a 'normal' head would make string changes quicker and easier. I know I have to book holidays if I change the strings on my PB 12-er .. is it an aesthetic decision? Musical/tonal? Or just what took your fancy? Leo - two reasons really. That's what the Stella 12'ers had and weight - that's quite a lot of shrapnel on the headstock if you don't use slotheaded tuners. I'm using these Golden Age Restoration Tuners with black buttons from StewMac: Brook Guitars like to use the Golden Age Restoration Tuners and suggested them for my 'Lyn'. I was very tempted but I wanted wood buttons so did not use them in the end. I think they will be perfect for this guitar Dave It's coming along nicely Phil

Phil, Thanks. I have some ebony buttons that I can use to replace the black plastic ones but it's a bit of a pfaff and I have to ask myself first what Leadbelly would have done

what Leadbelly would have done Surely he would first have thumped some poor bugger who later passed away from the attention and then written and perfomed a great song to buy his way out of chokey. But I'm looking forward to the ladder bracing. Kym

Kym - I'm working on that as we speak John - thanks. The oak side braces are notched into the linings and glued in using hot hide glue: The 8mm carbon fibre tube lower flying buttress braces are then glued in:

Here’s the completed rim-set: The Oak back plates are initially thicknessed, jointed and glued using hot hide glue and the tent method: The European spruce X braces are profiled to a 10’ radius, notched and then glued on one at a time: Then the ladder braces are glued on:

You're killing me with this one Dave. Can I request Goodnight Irene as a demo once it's done?
