I have just put up an audio review of the new Headway device on my blog. The EDM-1 is a single channel device that sits below the 2 channel preamp (now the EDM-2) in price — it retails for about £150. I'm not sure I have done this justice. It is a cracking device and really easy to use. If you only need one mono channel then this is really worth considering. The Headway EDM-1 Review
I've put this on my blog so that I can include photos on some other sound files as I produce them.

Here is a more useful recording to listen to. This is a version of my Recruited Collier arrangement in Csus4sus9 (CGCFCD)—capo 2nd. I have taken the signal from the EDM-1 into Logic and have panned the signal both left and right and then added two types of reverb on either channel. The signal is from a Fishman UST which is certainly not state of art. Sounds OK to me and this is with minimal twiddling! The MP3 might be breaking up a bit apologies! MP3MP4WAV

A great intro Andy.. This new preamp looks to be a really well thought out device... Three band EQ.. Battery or phantom powered.. The mute switch is next to the right hand side of the face...easy to find and hard to hit another control in error. The "Range" control gives a good starting point for the EQ on loads of different acoustic instruments.. And..it comes with a stereo jack to XLR adapter for easy connection to most desks... On the face of it for someone not wanting to change instruments frequently looks like a winner... www.headwaymusicaudio.com/wpcms/wp-content/uploads/EDM-1-Manual-FINAL-14.05.2013.pdf

I think it is Andrew. I have to send mine back to Headway and although I have the bigger EDB-2 I shall be a little upset to see it go!
Great sound and a really powerful output signal.

Looks to be a great piece of kit Andy - enjoyed your blog review.
Maybe you could suggest to Headway that you send the EDM-1 around some Forum members on a Road Trip evaluation by normal punters? Nothing to lose....

Nice bits of kit. I use the Baggs PADI and a D-TAR Mama Bear, both of which are great bits of kit. I did consider adding a Baggs Venue DI, mainly because of its boost button. I do fingerpicking and flatpicking and I saw Tim May using one to great effect. Although of late I and the other guitar player have been using condenser mics because our pick-ups need replacing!
